Gti Turbo Technics Insurance In Manchester? Help!

Recommended Posts

thespoy

I have got a 1.9 GTi Turbo Technics and have been turned down by my insurer of the last 3 years (A-Plan) because I have moved into a Manchester postcode.

I am 37, have full no claims and a clean licence.

Does anyone know of any insurers who will actually insure me and aren't going to charge the earth?

Any help greatly appreciated as I am just about to get it back from a 4 week spell in the garage for an expensive job and don't want to have to now sell it because of insurers.

Cheers,

Ian.

I hope you get something sorted mate - have you tried all the comparison sites?

If you do get really stuck i'd be interested in buying it.

Cheers,

Andy

is this a second car? can you cope with limited mileage ie 5k a year?

if so look at classic insurance

just reinsured mine with these and it was £139 fully comp!! all mods declared

Thanks for the advice so far.

I will indeed try the Classic Insurance route. I hadn't thought of that one and 5k would easily cover it.

Please keep the suggestions coming though for my enjoyable afternoon on the phone!

Try Peter Best. I use my 205 as my daily and got a classic policy from them.

When I tried the classic insurers for my turbo 205 I found most of them would not cover the extent of the modifications.

However HIC cover it on a limited mileage basis for a pretty reasonable in my opinion £350 a year fully comp.

Surely Manchester cant be that bad ,cos Nottingham always occupied No. 1 or 2 for car car crime(where i live) and its cost me 129 pounds fully comp on my turbo technics this year on classic policy with 3k mileage thru classic car insurance

agreed value, limited mileage, 6 points  , fully comp for £150 :(

only downside with classic insurance is, i don't think you can earn NCB

I was advised this on my policy. I was also told that if you don't have a standard policy within 2 years you lose all previously amassed NCB's.

yeah no NCB but on a policy at £150/year you're not really bothered

Could also give Skyinsurance a call. IIRC one of the guys that works there runs a gti turbo technics. They offer 20% discount to forum members. details are in the group buy section!
