Afm Can Not Be Adjusted

Recommended Posts

Tjalde^

Good evening,

The screw in my AFM can easily be turned but nothing happens about the mixture. My friend, a mechanic, says it can be broken and it is not the first time. My thought is that it can be repaired? Or is that wrong?

If I can not repair it I will not try to if I crash it. At least the engine can run now but it could sure get some thicker mixture.

Thank you..

Remove the lid on the AFM and check that the brass spring clip that connects the external adjuster

screw has not jumped off the pot on the circuit board.

there is no connection between the screw and the flap or any of its mechanism, its purely an air bypass screw same as the screw on the throttle body (of an 8 valve)

Take the AFM off the car. Remove the screw, clean it with brake cleaner. Then clean the crap out of the main part of the Afm. let it dry and put it all back together. Should be ok

I think there is some confusion, the AFM has a mixture screw to adjust idle co with a pot.

The throttle body has an air bypass screw to adjust idle air flow.

Which is it...?

the screw on the AFM is also a simple air bypass screw.

allow less air to bypass the flap and the flap will open further and hence tell the ecu to inject more fuel.

It's the Mi16 AFM that has the mixture pot, don't think the 8v does.
