Open an account with a hosting site like FlickR, Photobucket, Imageshack or similar then add the links or the URL in image tags when you post.

keep image sizes posted to 800x600 or similar or use thumbnail links :)

look forward to seeing more of your project.

Looks well Sid, where did you get the pipework from? What intercooler are you running?

I did all the custom pipework. I made some bits myself and the red hoses I got from Viper Performance:

http://www.viperperformance.co.uk/

They have hoses in various sizes and angles so I mixed and matched!

I made the Water pipe junctions myself out of billet Aluminum on the Lathe, If anyone is interested I can make custom one offs for a small fee..

Nice looking conversion, why is there 2 expansion tanks though?

That's a neat install and I like the custom pipes.

Sounds like it's surging on back outs - it sounds cool and WRCesque but I was taught this is bad for the compressor long term. Don't know if anyone has first hand experience of this.

It's bad for the turbo but it sounds amazing.

Compressor Surge :)

No, compressor stall, good for prematurely knackering many a good turbo.

Plus with a dump valve installed and visible in the video, no reason for that noise to be occuring really.

I always thought Compressor Surge was exactly the same thing as Compressor Stall ?

Surge is when the compressor wheel rapidly accelerates then slows, due to incorrect turbo sizing usually. Not very common.

Stall is when the compressor suddenly stalls from high speed. Sadly common due to people either not knowing what it is, or knowing full well and not having mechanical sympathy.

Neither are good for the turbo, but are different.

Ok my bad, am I correct in thinking the sound is due to air being 'chopped' by the blades when they are forced to spin against their natural rotation ?

Ordinarily I'd bow down to Tom's awesomeness, but I dont think this is the correct definition of surge. Surge is when there is too much pressure for a given flow rate, essentially the compressor cannot work against the pressure build up. The air then 'surges' over the compressor blades causing the chirping and resulting in a rapid stall.

Definitely agree that it is bad for the turbo.

The other end of the map is choke when there is too much flow for a given pressure ie you've reached the sonic limit. Not so bad, just means you are off the turbo map.

WOW didnt know any of this about surge/stall etc...

also the second tank is just a windscreen washer tank, had to make a new one as the ecu took the place of the old one!!

if you guys are talking about the sound I think you might be mistaken for the dump valve... its a dual port one, so at lower revs it only opens one side making that funky noise, but when on full wack the other one opens and it gives a full dump!!

I hope that is what your all saying??

Sounds like mine, probably will be your dumpvalve! Im running a Blitz (yo) dumpvalve and it sounds just like this. Chatters at lower revs, full on dumps followed by chatter at higher revs!

I'm fairly confident that your car isnt making that sound because of the dumpvalve.

What do you think it is?

Do you think it's anything bad, and if so what should I do to sort it?

Cheers
