I have the same engine in my gt which also has a strut brace with original air filter and I have no problems with it. You could use the automatic bonnet as that has the middle raised, it's raised higher than the normal bonnets.

Not sure of your intended use for the car, but just in case you plan to use this in competition at all, scrutineers do not like bonnets being raise at the back as it is a potential escape route for liquids.

Personally i find this slightly amusing given some of the venting people have in their bonnets that would allow small children to escape, but these are ok.

not just liquids, but fumes, smoke and fire.

mainly because most vehicles have the cabin air intake placed there, also typically raising the rear edge of the bonnet does very little to aid cooling if at all due to the scuttle panel area being under positive pressure not negative, so its quite pointless raising it.

it does give you an excuse to put a decent vent to a panel filter leading to a set of throttle bodies on a TU engine in a 106 where space is at a premium, I dont think the 205 has as much of an issue with space there with the TU.

I'm thinking of doing a few little experiments to see what can be done to cool my engine bay.

I've read a few posts on this forum and others and I want to see if I can find a cheap way of cooling the engine bay.

Just need to get my arse in gear. <_<

I'm going to have a chat with a few scrutineers the weekend to see what they'd be happy with.

if you relocate the cabin's air intake then you can raise the bonnet to your hearts content <_<

After chatting to a couple of scrutes they said it wouldn't be allowed as it would be altering the silhouette of the car.
