I must say as a newbie to this site ive found it extremely informative, :D

Especially the guides to conversions !

I am now looking forward to replace my 205 gti with a GTi-6, although theres nothing wrong with the engine, i feel reading the past topics regarding pro's and con's with all conversions i feel that a GTi-6 lump to be my best route forward to improve my 205 GTi.

I of course will be doing most the work myself, with a little help now and again from my friend (manual labour)

But first im going to run my GTi till i aquire all the nessecary bits to do the conversion and as i use the 205 as my daily drive will be looking at doing all the work over as smaller period as possible !

And look forward to posting a thread regarding my build !

Although ive read quite a few of the threads regarding this conversion any comments regarding what to look out for, would be highly appreciative,

Thanks

Plans sound good so far! What are the specs of the car at the moment? If you have any questions try the search first as there are some members on here that will bitch and whine all day long about it.

and welcome to the forum

Colin.

hi colin,

thanks for the tips, like i said before ive been searching the forum for the last week regarding the conversion so have got a pretty good idea on what the conversion takes, just wondered on peoples opinions regarding them, i realise some people think it may be sacralidge to ruin the 205 by doing a transplate but im only trying to update and make it last for alot longer as body wise it is suprisingly good for a 1987 205 GTi and as i plan to keep it for many years to come it seems the only way to prolong the life time !

the car as far as i can tell it has a completely standard 1.9 gti lump and gearbox although i could be wrong as i have yet to do any major work on it except a cambelt, waterpump and usual service items.

Many thanks for the welcome and look forward to more chats with fellow 205 lovers !

Another Winchester boy!

Good luck with the car, I hopefully will be doing a gti-6 swap over the summer, although I'm down in sunny Brighton nowadays.

TBH the newest series is very good, they do some proper work on the super cars they did, the programme has matured a lot since the first series.
