Cheers :) Project thread Rich? There's an idea :D

There is a full list of the 1/24 scale models here Richie, http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/list/24car_2.htm with the model number and description which should help when searching for items on T'bay etc.

Baz, I did build some a few years ago, including Mr Rossi's Repsol RC211V in the Austin Powers style paint job, quite enjoyable way to spend a few evenings. Brings out the kid in anyone. :)

Thats cool as feck. Brings back memories for me as well, I used to be well into building models and stuff as a kid.

I seemed to spend most of my childhood covered in water soluble paint with my fingers stuck together (Steady :) )

I have one built and one in the box, easy to build though but take your time and paint the individual items as you go.

Ari Vatenen's car Jim? (Difficult to see the name on the door)

Will you be building it?

I've been thinking of doing one of these, and I remember seeing this Tamiya kit in Green's toy shop in Royston when I was 7+. Always wanted it.

I think it would look best if you paint it (first before assembly - but I guess you know that), and then airbrush on some mud splatter. Would look awesome IMO and is how I'll do mine.

Nice find. :)

Sarty, I think it would only be right to recreate a homage to Vatanen, but I will have to see exactly what is in the kit when I get it - I'm ploughing through this forum thread at the moment - 86 Pages of Turbo 16 Photos - So hopefully I should be able to make a reasonably authentic repro.

Some amazing photos on there, so not short of inspiration...

I will take my time on it, hopefully, my left brained-ness will come to the fore

I urge you all to have a look through the site I linked above, although it's maybe not a good idea if you're at work.

Here is a guy that's taken his quite seriously http://www.worldlingo.com/wl/services/S179...t=505#wl_tstart. C'est bon.

the kit is good, basic details, the engine and gearbox is there, and the interior is a good repo, however it is ripe for some super detailing if you're good at that. Has a clear floor to so you see the underside. rear lid lifts up to view the lump behind.

If you have a sharp eye, steady hand then you can reproduce a decent replica of the real thing. Fab kit it is.
