Advice On Value Needed Please

Recommended Posts

Guest tobys73

hi all i'm looking for some advice on a rough value for my GTI project car

my health isn't good enough to finish it, and its a shame to see it sitting doing nothing in the drive,

so i was thinking of selling it on or breaking it

heres a list of all the parts/mods fitted to it and I'll add some pics to,

any advice would be great as i aint got a clue what its worth

it is the full sunroof model in topaz blue (rare for a gti)

the 1/2 leather interior in good clean condition with little signs of wear and tear as can be seen from the pics

parts and mods fitted include-

• full 205 st.tropez bodykit

• st. tropez roof spoiler

• borbet quad headlights

• chrome crystal tail lights

• peugeot 205 gti rear reflective boot panel (rare)

• gutmann grill with mesh

• m3 style door mirrors with led side repeaters

• 15 inch mim savona 2610 lightweight alloys

• x drilled and grooved discs and high performance pads

• ecosse fusio polished aluminium, heater control dials

• k+n filter

• battery relocated to boot with cut off switch

• full stainless exhaust + lots more

• new rear beam mounts and brake flexi hoses on beam

• new handbrake cables just fitted

• rear brake pipes renewed

the car is an unfinished project but is a stunning little car

as far a i can see the car only needs the sill welded on the driver side where someone has put a jack through it (i have a brand new sill that i have been unable to fit and it will be supplied with the car)

the rear brake pipes were also replaced when doing the flexi hoses as they were showing some signs of wear, so the brakes will need bleeding too,

it doesnt need much to finish it off but like i said i dont keep too well, i am not trying to sell the car on here im just looking to see whats the best way of recouping some money by selling compete or breaking although its too good to break imo

heres some pics of the car all comments welcome good or bad

mate, no offence but those sort of mods just wont fly on here

if it aint std the boys wont like it.

and value wise it would be worth much more in std form.

probabally best selling the chavved up bits on ebay and sticking std parts on a selling as a whole as it looks quite a tidy car

its a good start, the tropez valance is ok, just loose the skirts, wheels, mirrors and all the lights for std and you will have a nice little car.oh and the grille :)

could just live with the chrome knobs and aftermarket gearknob

if you really need to shift it though, just chuck it on ebay as it is and i'm sure it will go. cant see anyone on here buying it though

I like it!

You're right though, the engine would be much better use in something else, Rolls Royce Phantom?

if you're up to breaking it, you will probably get most cash, either that or as previously mentioned... back to standard (ish) and sell.. although both are a fair ammount of work.

hope this helps.

I recon in it's current state it would sell for about 1300-1500.

things like the rear reflective thingy, and the st tropez valance are fairly rare by themselves.

Hello, I'm a bit confused. You say you are too unwell to finish the car but you talk of stripping it for bits and putting the engine in something else? Would it not be a lot less effort to just to finish the car?

Come on gents, lets all act our ages and cut the guy some slack.

The car is not my personal taste either.

But if you have nothing constructive to say, SAY NOTHING.

I would personally set to putting back to standard by selling off the mods to finance the project.

Depending on overall condition, I'm the sort that would look past all the mods and see a Topaz that to all intent and purpose could be made good.

If you are not well enough to complete or strip it and the need for cash is your motivation, I'd just put it up for what you would realistically like for it and not necessarily what the car owes you with ono and take it from there to see if there is any interest.
