Recommended Posts

Guest sowtz

as title says 205gti 1.9, the crack is on the top left hand side where the hose joins the bottle. the crack is just at the base of the thing the hose plugs into, when i rev the motor some fluid comes out.

can i fix this or do i need a new one?

cheers

new ones are still available if you can't get a good used one, they are about the £30 mark.

I don't think it is worth fixing. If you glue it I don't expect it will last very long as it will be put under pressure a lot. A second hand one would be quite cheap so it may be worth making a wanted ad once you have enough posts

Unlikely you'd be able to repair it successfully as system is pressurised, furthermore antifreeze tends to seep more than plain water.

fairy easy, drain it out, remove the hoses, remove it from the car and refit the new one.

What type of bottle is it? White or black?

Both types crack, it's fairly common, and i suspect will start getting even more-so.
