205 Gti Driveshaft

Hi,

need your expert help.......

i have a 1.6 gti which when i bought was advised by the seller that the front end had a 309 gti front wishbone set up...it does look wider than the back (which still has the sdt 1.6 gti beam). well my drivers side driveshaft is now in need of replacement and im just wondering if there is any way i can check if i really do have a 309 gti front wishbone set up? would it just be easier to take the drive shaft to a local moroe factors and get them to source a replacement? are the driveshafts for 1.9 and 1.6 different? i think they are?

 

any help appreciated for this numpty :-)

count the splines on the outer CV joint.

Yep 1.6 and 1.9 ones are different, 1.9 are thicker where they fit into the hub. You could well measure the length of the wishbone?
