Guest ebrett Posted July 9, 2010 Thought I would have ago myself at replacing the sill on my 205. Never done anything like this before, so I need some advice. So far i've drilled the spot welds and removed the sill. Cleaned up the surface rust with a wire brush wheel. 'B' piller I'm guessing this was once attached to the bottem of the inner sill? This section needs cutting out and replacing. Would a patch with a couple of holes drilled using a holesaw be ok? I take it the holes allow air to circulate and are important? I'll list what I plan to do next.. Clean up inner sill with angle grinder. Apply Kurust. Patch rusty sections. Apply a coat of weld through primer. Spot weld new sill. paint. One last thing. When applying seam sealer, do you put it on before and weld through it? Many Thanks.
Tom Fenton 1,536 Posted July 9, 2010 You cannot weld through seam sealer, it goes on after welding.
