Inline Oil Filter Location Xu9 Engine

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out where the inline oil filter goes in the cylinder head.

I'm assuming it just pops into the one of the oil ways in the head, but which?

Flywheel end or cam belt end? Inlet or exhaust side?

Or a picture if anyone has one would be spot on.

Cheers

^^ That's just a link to the mounting of the water-oil heat exchanger (cooler) to filter in the remote location, which I believe is only on models with A/C, as is often found in hotter climates like Australia.

I believe you just mean the little plastic mesh basket that goes in the cylinder head as WP's described?

So for general forum (newcomer) benefit, really there are 2 oil filters, unless you also count the oil pump pick-up mesh: one in the head and the screw-in one, whether that mounts remotely as per the above link from Graham, or into the front of the block.

P.S. I really like the above remote siting set-up BTW if you need an oil cooler and have limited access to the front of the engine. It makes changing a screw-in filter a complete doddle, although there is more pipework and bracketry.

Yeah, thats the jobby I was refering to.

Funny but I have owned 205's for almost a decade, in that time changed 3 or 4 cylinder heads, read the Haynes manual etc etc and I had never heard of or seen the inline filter before. I even checked a few heads I have in the garage and none had one fitted.

Is it actually commented on in the Haynes?
