No Reverse Lights

Hi Folks -just need to rack your world class Pug brains !!

 

Basically i have no reverse lights on my new Mi..

 

assume bulbs will be ok as its no lights, can anyone point me in the right direction..

 

switch ???

The switch is on the front of the box around by the clutch arm. What gaerbox have you got Be1 (reverse next to 1st) or Be3 (recerse under 5th).

 

I would have a look at the bulb and the bulb holder as corrosion is now a common problem.

After checking all bulbs and holders , theres a switch wire at the bottom near the clutch /gear which controls the reverse lights when it goes in reverse might be also worthwhile checking that switchwire.

cheers guys -i'll check all these things -its a g reg so 89/90- box is a Be3, if reverse is under 5th

ok, does it have phase 2 light clusters fitted?

 

if so its likely that someone just hasn't fitted the wire and the reverse light unit in the bumper in place of the nearside reflector.

 

if it still have the phase 1.5 rear light units then check as the other guys suggested.
