Phase 2 Rear Light Conversion

Recommended Posts

Has anyone done this before? And how simple was it?!

I think it'd really set my white GTi off, as the orange indicators just look odd personally =/

Cheers!

Steve

I'd rather leave it all original rather than make it try and look like a newer car.

Forget originality, in my opion phase 2 lights look so much better, at the end of the day it's your car, you're the one driving it at the minute, it'll only be an issue if and when you come to sell it and in which case follow the instruction on the the home page on the conversion and keep the original loom in place. That way if when you come to sell and the new owner prefers the phase one lights they cam swap back in five minutes.

if I see an orange (formerly red) G plate with the later lights and faded plastics, it looks wrong, but if the plastics are black and the paints' still red I let it pass!

I just think the phase one lights age the car so much.

that's the thing, Phase 1-1.5 plastics are not black.

I have done it on my old XS. I made a loom using trailer board wire which was fed over the top of the phase 1 ribbon cable

My Pug's mint.. Plasticare'd all over, the body is spot on.. New front lights, Ph2 indicators, new driving lights, and soon to be my Red and polished 13" Image Splits.. It won't suit the Ph1 rears!

BUT, I do love it looking Original.. And i've still got the factory exhaust.. So yeah, when it comes to selling it (NO TIME SOON ) ill restore it to factory!

Is there anyone near Bristol that is capable of carrying this out? I'm not the best when it comes to wiring and i'm finding that guide hard to follow! :)

My bad, I'm an Engineer.. So this electrical stuff hurts my head
