Ignition Module

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Does anyone know which modual\amp I need?

I have a 1988 1.9 8v.

I swapped one over from a mates car which is the same ignition system but the engine didn't even fire.

What is the difference between each unit?

Cheers

To be honest, I always thought the amps were all the same (1.6, 1.9 & Mi16). Was the one you borrowed a Bosch one or the troublesome Intermotor's?

The one fitted at the moment is a Ducellier which I think is causing my timing issues, the one from my mates car is a Bosch and the engine will not fire using that.

Is it true that they can cause timing faults?

They can but it could equally be the coil causing misfires (along with a large number of other ignition components). Have you put the heat-sink paste on the amp before bolting it to the mounting plate? If not they tend to over-heat and cause misfires. It's the same stuff you use building PC's.

No I haven't used paste, probably a good idea if I got some.

Have you read my other post titled "Please help Timing issues"? a few members had some usefull info for me to check put unfortunatly none were succesfull, and then I read that the modual had something to do with the timing, but not sure if that is true?
