Kms Ecu Tacho Output

Recommended Posts

Hi all Sorry to go over this old topic once again have just spent the past hour or so searching for a topic that I remember seeing once upon a time in the past but cannot find it.

Heres the crack, We've just finished fitting Damiens 6' engine on bodies to his car which has KMS management now normally when we fit a later engine which has a digital output from the ecu for the tacho we just fit the two diodes to the coil trigger wires along with the 1k resistor to earth and the zener diode in line in the wire to the tacho, never had one fail yet !, EXCEPT...... this one, I can only assume its due to the KMS side of things.

I seem to remember reading somewhere on here that theres a mod you can carry out to the rear of the tacho itself which involves removing a resistor and then soldering a piece of wire in to bypass it ?

Can anyone give me the exact details so that I can get Damien his tacho working :)

Cheers

Hi Tris

The KMS works the same way, a friend just received a KMS ECU and the "tacho mod" is the same as usual...

Double check everything, like maybe retry with other clocks, or check continuity in wire 112 and its ground.

I tried the same tacho mod loom on a different car that has the Pug coil worked fine, I also checked continuity to the instrument cluster all is fine ???, put it back on the KMS no go ?, also strangley the KMS coil will not work on Peugeot or emerald management ?
