Brake Judder On My 205 Gti-6

Recommended Posts

Hi All, got a bit of a problem with brake judder on my 205 gti-6. From anything 20mph+ you can feel judder though the pedal and through the steering wheel.

Its got 307 front brakes and drilled/grooved rears. The garage checked the run out and found it to be 0.6 and 0.8mm, any idea if that is too much or could cause judder?

The discs look new, but the pads are used, not sure on the history as I have only just purchased the vehicle, but it has been used for a fair few track days.

Also, when hard on the brakes, you can feel the pedal push back at you a bit, anyone ever experienced that?

Cheers, Dan

.8mm is huge :)

Sure there's no rust behind them on the hub?

The garage said that brand new discs can have upto 0.5mm of run out.

Whats the usual kind of limit you would apply?

Personally I wouldn't be happy with anything above about 0.05mm :)

I will double check with him that he didnt meant 0.08mm rather than 0.8mm, but even at that it might be worth changing the discs by the sounds of it

a new set of discs and pads seems to have done the trick :-) there was a strange low spot at one point on the discs
