Just A Quick One. Be1 To Be3 How Hard?

am considering a be3 1.9 box but currently have a be1 box.

 

how hard to change over and what is needed to do it?

you need a BE3 clutch release bearing, afaik the BE1 cable can be made to fit, but otherwise a BE3 cable and any post 1990 clutch pedal.

I am doing the same as you want to do but the other way round im lucky to have a complete car to get all the parts needed from.

whats the diffrence between a be1 and a be3 apart from the reverse being in a diffrent place?

There is a thread stripped on the lower gearbox to block bolt hole and im after a1.9 one instead

get a helicoil or a timesert fitted, solves that issue

what does a rebuild cost though?

 

come to think of it i do have a spare gearbox but i think its a diesel? is there anyway to find out what i have? or i could just swap bellhousings surely?
