Wobbly Throttle Pedal

Recommended Posts

swordfish210

The throttle pedal on my 205 has a serious case of the shakes, every time i try to blip the throttle under braking it just flops to the side instead of in the desired direction  Is there anything i can do to tighten the pedal up a bit, i tried tightening the bolts but the studs seem to spin

Anyone got a picture of the pedal mount taken apart so i can see what i'm up against. Thanks. Mark

You should have said you wanted a look mark, you were sat next to a brand new mount and throttle pedal earlier.

Yeah i know, i was thinking about beams at the time though.....and girls naughty parts every six seconds of so. I was pondering the throttle pedal problem on the way home and decided i would take the oppertunity to do something about it, it's been bugging me ever since i bought the car.

I expect the plasic is badly worn, Just replace it and you should have a nice pedal again.

Unfortunatly doesn't seem the case, out of the 2 pedals I have at the workshop both still have slack once replaced the plastic. Can sleeve your pedal as well mark if it works on mine?

I wrapped a bit of tape round it and a bit of grease. Mine used to flop around.

That sounds wrong

i have the floppy problem too :)

sort of used to it when reving under, almost have to calculate the movement along with the correct revs

would be nice to get it sleeved though....

Thanks guys, sleeving the pedal does seem to be the ideal option. I'll buy a new mount anyway then take some measurements off of that and see about getting some tube to fit.

Right I fixed this today, even with the new 'bearing' the wobble was present but only in one direction. After looking closely this was fore and aft not side to side or up and down.

Simple fix really, wet and dry on a flat surface, and get rubbing. The 'locating' tabs caused a load of the play, even with them removed more material needs to go. I've still got a little bit of play in the pedal, but I didn't want to make it to tight for now, always got a spare bearing I can give it a go on to make it tighter.

dunno, but the RHD pedals are NFP, the bearing seems to be still available at £2.97.

It doesn't seem to be anything to do with the pedals, measuring mine up shows it round still.
