Clunking Shafts After 5 Mins Of Use

Guys – im having non stop problems with my 205 gti and its driveshafts. I know there are 100’s of threads on here similar to this but my situation is slightly different.

 

I can put in a new set of driveshafts, and within 5 mins of use they are clunking awfully when turning slowly. On track at speed there is no problem.

 

Info that maybe important – Gripper LSD

309 Gti wishbones (309 shafts were no better, if anything worse as there was no play in them)

 

Any ideas?

Is it definatly the shafts clonking and not the diff?

well. i dont know for sure. From what i can tell its the shafts but could be the diff. Whats the difference in noise?

 

As i say - when going over 10/20 mph its smooth as anything.

LSD's clunk when turning at low speed, its how they are.

 

Reconditioned shafts are sometimes duff also, i've had a dead one bought from gsf, it made the gearstick wobble like a rampant rabbit.

Ok well thats reassuring then, but this is a fairly big clunk, most important thing is that at speed its fine but its horrible driving around the paddock etc, feels like its falling apart.

It'll be the diff.

 

Mine does the same.

 

It feels and sounds exactly the same when the CV joint is breaking up.
