Help!

Right i will start from the beginning i have been experiencing shaking from my drivers side driveshaft so i assumed the support bearing was breaking down until after closer i discovered the snap ring ( fitted in groove on driveshaft) had snapped causing the driveshaft to float in and out of the outer cv joint so i thought right i will go to peugeot surely they will be able to supply me one but oh no full shaft only so my question is does anybody no where i can get one from or does anybody have one spare as dont see the need to purchase a new driveshaft as the one i have is perfectly ok apart from the above issue any help would be most appreciated.

I can't help you with a snap ring, but what I will say is that the shaking is usually caused not by axial float, but by the inner CV joint being worn out.

If you can get a ring then by all means I hope you prove me wrong, but in my experience I think you will need to replace the shaft.

I do remember seeing it listed, and have seen one in a GKN CV boot kit I got from GSF not too long ago.

But as tom mentioned, its unlikely that this would cause any issues, there's a spring in the inner tripod joint that pushes the shaft into the CV, so 99% of the time the clip doesnt really do much.

You can replace the CV on its own, but what with its age and the wear that undoubtedly will be present in the rest of the shaft it'd be best to replace it as a whole exchange unit, GKN are said to be the best short of o.e units.

They are usually included in the outer cv boot kit, from the dealers. 95% of the time anyways. You dont need a whole new shaft, any decent parts monkey will know this!
