1989 205 Gti Pas Ram/rack Info...help Please!

Hi All,

Yesterday WOF (MOT) fail on leaking PAS rack, was told by mechanic it was the hydraulic ram leaking. Local wreckers have 3 x S3 Si's with PAS racks...will these fit the GTi? And/or is it possible to just replace the ram (the apparently leaky bit) and not the whole rack? Many thanks.

you can just change the ram only 2x bolts an 2x pipes

enlighten us on what an Si is!

 

but as mentioned, if its the ram that is leaking, any 205 ram will fit, even 306 and xsara rams fit.

Thanks for that...The Si was essentially, I think, an XS for the 'far flung' markets. We have a smattering of both Si and XS on the roads here in New Zealand and in Australia...but typical, when I go looking for one as an example they're hard to find! I'd heard of them but not had a clue what they were.

 

they appear to be 1580cc SPI XU engined XS's, somje with A/C

 

 

all the XS's I'd ever seen were an XY or TU 1360cc carb, and definitely no a/c!
