Sticky Stuff On Sunroof!

Ok when i bought the car it had some sort of heavy duty tape on the sunroof, why? no idea? anyway I have ripped it all of but its left like part of the sticky tape on sunroof window and tried removing it but its horrible, anyone recommend any stuff to get it of?

Tar and glue remover should do your trick or cellulose thinners just keep it away from any plastic if your sun roof has a surround

Hi, being something of a computer enthusiast i have all sorts of computer related stuff to hand including something call ArctiClean.

It's designed for cleaning up thermal paste (the same stuff as found on the back of the ignition amplifier) off processor chips but I've found the no. 1 bottle stuff to be excellent on various types of glue. Put few drops on and smear it round and leave for a few minutes and it actually dissolves the glue in a way no "ordinary" household cleaner I've found will. Then just easy clean of with soapy water and doesn't seem to attack plastics or anything. I've often used it to remove sticker residue off laptop palm rests where manufactures love to put stickers that end up getting half rubbed off.

 

I admit I've never tried "proper" tar / glue removers so they may be better bet and the ArctiClean is very expensive when consider size of bottle to cost, 15mm = £5-7!

Methylated spirits, the purple bottle is what you want removes anything like that.

works a treat, if your tape was over the sunroof handle bolts check the seals are good or you might have a leak when the traditional british weather returns

i use good old wd40 on sticky stuff as it dissolves the glue normally
