Im going to the scrapys tomorow to get a 406 m/c for my gti6 break conversion on my 205.

Can anyone give me the code of the side to make sure i get the correct one?

I personally wouldn't buy one from a scrapyard, its the only thing that is between your foot and the brakes.

 

They're all the same size though.

There are only two types of master cylinder on the 406, one with two ports (abs) and one with four ports(non abs).

But as welshpug says using a second hand one is a bit of a gamble.

I went to get one of these the other week and there were two 4 port master cylinders listed, one was ally and one was cast steel. What one are people using on there 205s?

You need the 4 port from a non abs car, it has "23" stamped on the bottom.

GSF i'd imagine or worth ringing round you local motor factors, but make sure you get a bendix item and nothing else.

you'd gamble £100 on your life?

 

though if you really do begrudge spending £100, a 22.2mm one works just fine and is far cheaper, it'll give you more pressure too.
