Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a Ford transit ambulance (1999) but I only have 1 key, I need a spare, I imagine its coded. Other than spending loads at a dealer, is there a cheaper alternative?

I had a quote of £60 for a coded key for my 306 from an independent auto locksmith. That's if I have the ECU immobiliser code, which I don't. Without, it's £80.

if you want a cheap option try this if you want

go and get 2 keys cut without the chip about 20 quid

then take the cowling of round the ignition and tape the key with the chip in it inside it,then replace and you can use your normal key.

but if it gets nicked you wont be covered i did this with a escort van that uses the same system

your choice.

mk5 or mk6?

I think the mk5 is cheaper to sort.
