Dist Mark On Pistons?

Recommended Posts

Guest sol20516

After removing the head on my 89' 1.6, I noticed a mark on each of the pistons. There is an arrow and next to it says 'Dist.' I assume this is a positioning mark to insert the pistons correctly with the arrow towards the distributor. The only problem is the arrow is facing the cam belt end of the engine. Does this mean the pistons are in the wrong way?

Thanks

Just done a search and found out this is correct. should of done that first. Sorry for the idiocy.

I think "Dist" refers to something french that means cam, there the right way anyway.

Just to confirm that "dist" should point towards the cambelt end of the engine and NOT as you'd suspect towards the distributor end.
