This happened to a mate of mine a year after passing his test. Eventually he got his license back, and a few months later the same thing happened again. He's on a twice daily medication now to keep the possibilities of it happening again at bay, and he's been back on the road for over a year trouble free.

Gutted for you mate

It happens a lot where i work, in the taxi game

we can lose our books very handy with the doctors passing the info on to the doe (taxi regulators)

as said, at least you where not behind the wheel at the time hope you get on top of the cause of them and get the proper meds!

i would say the least of your worries is your licence mate.

lucky you wasn't actually driving and killed yourself or worse; someone else.

epilepsy isnt to be taken light heartedly, my brother was just diagnosed with it before he had a fit and cracked his skull open and he never woke up, that was six years ago.

My dad had a couple of fits due to being over tired. He had a couple in the space of a month, lost his license but thankfully hasn't had one since.

I can share your pain mate - I too am epileptic and have had my licence removed on occasions due to it. Annoying as anything as not being able to drive down here in the sticks of Devon is a real PITA.

I'm on Epilim medication once a day. Minor dose to the point where the Doctors recently told me to come off the pills as my body didn't need them anymore as I'd apparently cured myself. Bad advise from the Doctors as even though my dose is a third of the MINIMUM dose they normally prescribe, my body DID still need it. Cue a fit and I too lost my licence. Its a pain in the backside especially as I can prove EXACTLY what caused my fit (lack of medication) and that whilst on medication I haven't had one in 10 years. Try explaining that to the DVLA and they just aren't interested - my doctor even said I'm fine to be back driving after a month of being back on the pills, but no the DVLA still insist on a year out from driving. Barstewards !

For everyone that wanted to know - your Doctor has a legal obligation to tell the DVLA of anything that would deem a person unsafe to drive.
