Gearbox Dead ?

Last night something gave up with my gearbox,When rpm gets up to around 2000rpm underload there seems to be a serious knocking/vibration,I also have a large gear oil leak !

 

Is there something obvious thats likely to have given up or is this a gearbox out and replace job ?

Quick question before I go any further with this,

 

I've started stripping bits to get the box out,Now the driverside driveshaft that has the 2 hockey stick bolts that hold the intermidiate bearing to the bottom mount were missing could this have caused the vibration that I was talikng about and maybe the gear oil leak if the shaft has some how pulled out a little ?

 

Just a though before I get to the point of no return !

Hopefully so,

 

I've got a few things to do while I have the shafts out etc but I will report back on the outcome.
