Swapping Final Drive In Gearbox

Recommended Posts

craig_007

I have a 1900 gearbox (BE3) that I need to fit to my track car.I destroyed the 1600 box that was in it

Before I fit it I want to change to a 4.4/4.8 final drive,Is this just a case of swapping the crown wheel on the diff or is it a full scale operation.

If it's a pig of a job I might just look for an MI16 box as the 1900 final drive is too long for track work for me.

The crown wheel and pinion have to be replaced, and always have to be swaped as a pair.To fit the pinion the whole box has to be stripped as it is part of the shaft. It is not too bad a job stripping a BE box. There might be a guide somewhere.
