Just been for mot today and failed on emmisions c02 4.04% is there a screw on the afm that will reduce this ? the car is a 205 gti 1.6 shell with 1.9 engine the number on afm is 0280 202 109 i have another afm number 0280 202 056

Help would be appreciated

Firstly i'd check your running full 1.9 management, your current afm is correct. Check the ecu and the dizzy the numbers should end in 9, 0 or 6 are 1.6 items, if your running the 1.6 ecu this will mess the fueling up as the injectors are open for longer iirc. If its on full 1.9 management then id replace the ecu temp sensor as these commonly fail and are cheap from gsf and generally cause the co to be high by overfueling. If the problem still persists then i'd wind the screw on the afm, 5mm allen key, anticlockwise to lean it off. It is worth quickly checking to make sure its not been messed with and wound right in to start with however.

Just checked dizzy that ends in 9 but not too sure where the ecu is on a 205? the car runs fine and made 132bhp on last rolling road the guy said the fueling was spot on that was 12 months ago, as the car has been off road since building it into a road rally car. If i wind the screw anti clockwise the screw comes upwards is this right? cant get another temp switch as mot is first thing tomorrow, should i wind the screw all the way before taking it for mot??

cheers mark

If its been stood for any length of time, does it just need a good caning to clear the gunk out?

It's under the dashboard, right hand side near the steering wheel.

Remove the lower dash trim,

You'll see it up there.
