Is This A Misfire?

Recommended Posts

Ok all has been ok for past week or so got in it this morning started easy but straight away you open the throttle no matter light or hard get a distinct machine gun sound out of exhaust does it throughout rev range and its popping and farting well  it is driveable but feels down on power and isn't reving hard? is this a misfire?

I recently took my spark plugs out and they black sooted to hell but some new ones I had laying about in I will check these tomorrow to see if they are black they have only been in a week or so.

I have also recently put another ignition amp on car from someone I bought of here maybe thats duff? can try my old one, anyone any other ideas? does it sound like a misfire?

cheers.

Has it happened since you replaced the Ignition amp?

If so revert back to the old one.

I have found the culprit nothing to do with ign amp took my spark plugs out and they covered in carbon deposits and the cylinder closest to cam side was slightly wet with fuel so no wonder it was sounding like it was and down on power, got some spare spark plugs put them in and hey presto back to normal power good and all.

Also the spark plugs before these have only been in less than a week! :D

So why is it clearly overfueling I have replaced ecu temp sensor, fpr, ht leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, only thing I can think of is the afm is duff? would this cause it to overfuel like i describe?

recently had it on emissions machine mate and got it down to around 1% CO. The reason I am thinking AFM is when I had it out recently I was checking it and noticed the flap sempt very flimsy wouldn't spring back aggressively which I believe they should.
