sound like an air leak somewhere to me. Is it when the engine is hot, cold?

all the hoses from the inlet to the manifold, plus the breather hoses, visually inspect for cracks and splits, sometimes at idle, putting you hand over the inlet (where its a bad leak) will force the car to breath through the leak, and you can hear where it is coming from.

Another test (which i used with Baz when he forgot he put samco hoses on and forgot that the oil filler mounting bolt went all the way into the manifold) is to take off the pipe to the inlet of the afm, and manually gradually move the flappy paddle in the afm with something long, if the uneven running begins to stablise, it's because you've told the ecu that more air is flowing (normal ammount plus leak), and the fuelling is adjusted accordingly.

then it's just a case of finding the leak.

hope this helps.

cheers

J
