I am fed up of polishing, but here is the end result.

These have been rebuilt with new stainless steel bolts.

Did you do that by hand or with a power tool?

Thanks for the comments.

I have some centre caps that came with the wheels Henry, either them or have some plain ally turned to fit. I am planning to use them attached to a 12v/240v inverter to give a nasty shock to any Chavs trying to steal my wheels.

I forget what grade bolts I used, but there are 2 types of stainless. One is for submersed applications and one is not. I think they are A2. On the back of the wheels i have used a stainless washer and a nyloc nut.

By hand dave.

From 80 grit all the way to 1500. Lots of water and a bit of washing up liquid.

I did the final stages with a polishing wheel and 3 grades of cutting paste, like jewellers rouge.

The most important thing when polishing is to have a tool that does not rotate more than 500rmp as it just burns the poish onto the metal.

Doing these wheels has been hard work, I am happy with the result tough.
