Diesel Oil Pump In S16/gti6

Recommended Posts

Mad Scientist

Has anyone used the diesel oil pump (bigger internal gears) with the 26 teeth S16 drive sprockets? I know the TD I got the pump out of had a smaller sprocket (presumably as the bigger geared pump flows more pressure) but would it create too much pressure or something? I have installed a new spring and piston and presume this would relieve the pressure anyway? Just thought it might improve oil flow and help maintain pressure?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Pete

it wont create any nmore pressure than the spring will allow, though it would pump more oil.

So potentially more oil picked up and put through the galleries, but at the same pressure. Just as I thought.

I presume this can only be a good thing then???

The pressure is generated by the restriction of the gallerys etc, so without increasing the pressure your not going to get any more flow.

i dont think it will do any harm but at the same time i doubt it will be any better than the standard pump.

The bigger gears might allow pressure to develop at lower RPM which is good i guess, would be an interesting experiment.
