Changing Gear With A Spike

Recommended Posts

Richie

Well set off on my journey home, went to change into 2nd and my knob fell off :(

Spent the rest of the journey changing gears with a spike, very annoying. Anybody else having knob problems ?

I know many people repeatadly punch themselves in the face while removing the gear knobs, so i'd suggest maybe heating the plastic up with a hair dryer to soften it a bit.

Also annoys me when the leather burns my ass, again, another down side of summer time. :( Bit of a pointless rambling thread but, whatever :)

Anyone got a lift up rev stylee gear knob i can have

I have also hit myself in the face while pulling on my knob. Its not a good thing to do when stuck in heavy traffic!

:mellow::)

When its happened to me iv just shoved it back on, when i got home used silicone to glue it.

If people punch themselves in the face then they must be changing gear the wrong way, forward and backwards is how i change gears :(

I think all the gear knobs are the same just the insert of the gear pattern is different.

My knob fell off; I was working the shaft for a few weeks until I replaced it. I developed an interesting callous on my left palm

No offense to anyone who does this (cos someone here's bound to) but it really bugs me the way some people drive with their hand permanently stuck to the gearknob. Nearly as bad as using the clutch peddle as a foot rest.

I do that. But then I also sit on the sofa with my hands down my pants like Al bundy :D It's a comfort thing. I guess I just can't leave my knob alone :)

Its pretty hard to find an improvised alternative to a gear knob, i mean i can't get hold of one for a couple of days

the only thing i can think of is sticking an apple on top of the spike, might work but im not sure how long the apple will last for.

Just read that back and it does actually look like a serious comment that i'll be using an apple, im not really using an apple. (but then again it would work! maybe a peach or an orange too! good for changing gear and healthy eating, win win)

I'm liking the apple idea

Or you could go Too Fast stylee and opt for this rather fetching bit of kit
