bouver 0 Posted June 17, 2010 This is my ongoing project. I have bought a Mohair roof to fit. Has anyone got any ideas of where I can get all the fixings I need? I need everything, the tention wires to fit down both sides of the roof, all the nuts and bolts to secure the hood to the car. Peugeot cant help, can you? PhilCTI 1 Posted June 17, 2010 Nice project, I like the dimma shape cti's As far as I can remember, the cables were nothing special, just thin steel wire with a loop at the windscreen end, and just goes through a hole and clamps up at the rear, I made my own, I used cycle brake cables and the cycle shop sold small bolts with a hole through the middle with a washer a nut to clamp the loop together They are not that long, you could probably make them from brake or gear cables from a cycle shop, either that or boat chandlers are good for that sort of thing, just need a good small clamp or someone that could crimp the loop on one end, Not sure about the bolts, I'll have a look when I get a chance, Phil Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted June 17, 2010 Have you not got the fixings on your existing hood that you can reuse. I have a new hood to fit too at some point so i will be looking at this too. I can't see any tensioner wires on Service Box so am interested in knowing where they run. Obviously stainless steel wire would be the best as they can go rusty. They are corroding and I am loathed to fit rusting screws and bolts to a new mohair hood. Are you refitting the headlining insulation and the inner liner henry? I will just be replacing the outer cover. The insulation and headling are ok. The wires are supposed to be tensioners for the hood and I believe they run diagonally across the car. I have never seen them on mine, nore have I poked about to look for them. I didn't notice them on my spare hood frame with no outer either. Maybe the power hood hasn't got them? I emailled BAS for soem fitting instructions for their hood but they said take it to a specialist! I think Veero sent me some hood fitting instructions ages ago I can try and dig out when I get home. steve@cornwall 100 Posted June 17, 2010 The tension wires run down a pocket at the outside edge of the hood, secured over a barb in the header rail and adjustable on the rear quarter by a clamp nut. I assume they are to give the sides of the hood rigidity when closed and help the seal between hood and window. I had mine made up by a chandler - cut over length and a loop properly crimped in the front - all for a couple of quid in stainless steel. Chandlers are also good for decent contact adhesive and stainless screws / fittings. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

bouver 0 Posted June 18, 2010 Thanks for the advice everyone. I have cleaned up the old headliner and decided to use that again. The insulation layer has seen better days, the fabric is roten at the front, but the felt is ok.
