5th Gear Selector Problem

Recommended Posts

chris 417 mi

Recently just bolted my engine & box back together and fitted them into my 205 after over a year of being sat in the garage, put all linkages on etc and go through the box..... 1 2 3 & 4 seem fine (sllightly stiff) but cannot get fifth at all.

Box has no oil in at the moment so im hoping this is the problem but if not ...any ideas ?

The box has been fully rebuilt last year and powder coated, it had been sat with no arm on the gear selector for a while but the shaft hasnt dropped at all as this was the first thing i considered but its been cable tied up at all times untill an arm was sourced. :)

Assuming it's BE3, can you get reverse? If not, I'd still guess that it's that the selector shaft dropped at some point....

Sorry to butt in to this topic,

but as I was reading this I hear you mention cable tying a selector up to stop it dropping.

What do you mean by this?

I only ask as I have a spare be3 box in my garage and would be interested to know if I need to tie something up.

Id removed one of the gear selector arms on the box (which if not tied up would allow the shaft to drop inside) whilst tryin to find a new one thats all :D
