Xu10 Valves Into Xu9?

Recommended Posts

edbar

Will the inlet valves from an xu10 8v fit in a xu9 8v as a big valve option? They are 1.1mm bigger than an xu9's and same stem thickness, think .03mm taller? Anyone any experiance of this?

Thanks for any info.

Edd

Why not just use the Xu10 head?

Cos I have a spare xu9 head and I can get valves very cheap through work, oh and I like to mess around with heads. I would like more power from the engine before I go 16v so bigger valves are next on the to do list.

Well you didnt answer my question.

Only the dyno will tell if its an improvement over standard sizes. How would you tell if it needs them then?

AFAIK they won't fit straight in because they have a thicker stem don't they so you'd need to get suitable valve guides fitted into the head for an absolute minimal gain they'd offer.

Both 8mm stems.

You'll need larger valve seat inserts to fit bigger valves, because original ones are only big enough for standard valves.

Best regards

Trial fitted a valve the other night and found that out but thanks. Think I'm going to go for 43mm inlets if I'm going to get new inserts.

Thanks,

Edd
