Locking Wheel Bolts

Recommended Posts

omega

just had a fun afternoon removing a set of locking bolts these where the "castle" type removed the first one and one of the lugs broke so i thought id get all four off,2nd one came out okay but the 3rd one broke another lug of and the 4th one snapped the remaing 2 lugs off.so a couple of hours later and a few blunt drill bits, big hammer and chisel i removed the last one.

so am going to look for some new ones so what are best?

i dont mean in terms of security,i mean in ease of use/removal as i dont want this "fun " again

thanks.

For ease of use, I really like the McGaurd ones I have now.

Tbh honest mate i found the castle type realy easy to get off get an old 19mm or 3/4 af socket must be double hex give it a tap on and bobs your teapot. I had a puncture and lost mine and ended up smashing the wheel brace on one come off a treat and went back on.

The hardest ones to get off are the ones with the sleeve that spins on the outside of the nut there a c*nt

If you use McGard, get a spare key ordered straight away. They wear badly, and as soon as one starts slipping it'll chew itself up in no time.
