Is there any particular knack to getting the centre main bearing cap off ? I've tried everything I can think of and can I get the darned thing off ? Can I 'eck as like. (It's an XU5J btw with 77K on the clock, that's been standing for a while.)

Ta in advance.

You've undone the bolts that go through the front and back of the block? That can help.

The centre cap is cross-bolted. There are two extra bolts that go in sideways through the sides of the block:

...and the same on the back.
