Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

Recommended Posts

welshpug

not really necessary, and in most cases totally un-necessary due to the lack of any mixture compensation/adjustment capability in the ecu.

Mad Professor

as welshpug said there is no point of using a Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator on a engine running stock ECU.

Plus I would not buy an unbraded Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, stick with FSE, ect.

Best Regards.

would there be a noticeable difference using a FSE fuel regulator with a superchipped ecu?

not at all no

"superchip" is really a misnomer, as there are no "chips" in these old clockwork ecu's, its just a big box of resistors.

Makes for interesting reading, took my rebuilt 1900 with a Kent cam down to be set up on the rollers a few years back, although the bloke wouldn't run it flat out as it was running too lean, and told me to come back when I got a regulator. Got an FSE reg took it back and he got 140bhp out of it, was this just the case as had a cam or some other factor - or did he just fill me with s*it?

I had the same when I fitted a cam to an 8V, and got another 10bhp out of turning up the fuel pressure. BUT that's only because the standard management is programmed to blindly put a set amount of fuel in, set for a standard engine. The new cam was obviously getting more air in, making the engine run lean. If you have a standard engine and turn the fuel pressure up, you'll be wasting fuel and losing power so it's totally pointless.

Hmm, my car is cammed, it also came with an FSE on it and to be honest I had planned to take it off and put a standard one back on!

What would you advise? Teke it and get it set up on some rollers? Bin it? Sell the car and buy a large box of beer?

FSE regulators are unreliable and unstable. A good quality fixed pressure regulator is all you should ever need
