How Many People Running Satchell Bodies?

Recommended Posts

All Praise The GTI

well after having my bodies sat brand new unused for way to long i have eventually got an emerald k3 and had a loom made up for it

so today with a sunday off work(very unusual for me!) decided to pull the 205 out the garage and fitt it all

after a few hours of fiddling with odd bits and pieces as i went got the inlet off and the old loom, refitted new loom and finallly all i had do was fit the new bodies plug in the ecu, upload a base map and hey presto.

untill i realised i couldnt fitt the bodies because the tps is on the left and my power steering pump is in the way!!!

no words can explain how angry i got :P so typical after its been so long waiting til i could fitt it all, its just been problem after problem.

anyone got round this? il be calling colin tommorrow and see what he says. as im not sure if he can put the tps on the other end or something.

typical as i needed the car on the road this week :)

run a 12v pump and relocate the pipe work, like on a spaxo or 106 gti.

also gives you the extra power in a straight line, just like folding down the rear seats. (less strain on engine etc...)

thats the only thing i can think of but i only just spent loads on my power steering setup etc so cant afford to get a 106 electric setup and then have to get bloody expensive pipes made up godknows where :(

No you cannot, Same issue with any P/S 8v 205 I'm afraid as the Pump get's in the way, Even on non P/S models you need to trim the alt mount slightly

Yes it is a custom mount, but must be used with an alloy sump

There's definitely some combination that fits, as my old 306 GTi-6 on Jenvey's was still running PAS and AC on what, at a glance atleast, appeared to be a standard set regarding the PAS pump, alternator and aircon pump. Definitely running Jenvey's, what I believe were K&N filters meant for twin-carbs, and a normal Longman/Jenvey manifold from memory - Baz would probably be able to confirm, as I sold the whole TB and management setup to him when I broke the car.

A couple of poor photos I've got of the engine bay, and a close-up of the PAS pump and throttle body clearance (or lack thereof) - not quite sure why I took pictures showing a closeup of the PAS pump, but I can only assume it was for a similar topic as this one!

Not that this helps Nat with his Satchel bodies of course...

I wondered about that when i read it earlier! & yes was a Jenvey/Longman manifold.

Could be me, 8v's cannot but 16v's I've never had a problem with

Ahh yes, can see the confusion now! Nat has a '6 engine.

If moving the TPS to the other side (as they usually are gearbox side on Jenveys etc) gives enough room then it's worth a shot!

S16 non-a/c brackets place the PAS similar to the Lynx relocation bracket, though the sump does have to be a steel one or have the lugs chopped off the front.

other thing you could do is 106/saxo Electric pas pump.

I'm sure it could be made to work. I find the brackets off twin belted xu10 XMs good to start with for these type of conversions.

How about a totaly electric PAS from a Corsa? Its no straight swap, but it would do away with ALL hydrolycs (Spelling!)

I have this setup sat waiting to be converted onto my 205 soon! Have a search on here, a few people have done it.

afaik theres been talk of it but no one has said how to do it and i dont have funds to spend messing about with it. so on look out for an electric saxo or 106 pump now
