7 1/4" Clutch Is This Right

Recommended Posts

I am building one of these mi/gti6 hybrid engines for my sprint car, i have a TTV steel flywheel from Rich walker and a 71/4" helix lug drive clutch,

the problem seems to me that the clutch plate is too thick, and the cast alloy cover is 2-3mm away from bolting tight up to the flywheel (the thickness of the

metal that the plate runs on the flywheel) I can tighten the bolts up gradually and "pull" the cover onto the flywheel but by doing this the fingers in the middle

striaghten out and move in towards the flywheel, this then looks like there wont be enough movement in them when you want to dip the clutch.

any ideas?

cheers

sounds perfectly normal to me, without that happening you'd have no pressure holding the friction plate.

Sounds about right i can measure mine if you want as its out at the mo.

You have very little travel to release the clutch on a 7 1/4 You have to be concerned about over stroking it as it will damage the fingers quickly iv fitted a stop on my pedal to get over this problem then just adjust the cable to suit.

Hope this helps
