Wtf Is It With 205 Gtis?!?!?

Ok I got my gti back on Thursday after along haul in the garage everything seemed grand fired up pretty much on the button so took it home, was stood for over 12 hours got in it Friday morning at 6:30am fired again pretty much on button push.

I got home Friday afternoon around 3:30pm decided to see if I could figure out why it was lumpy on first start and low idle, my idea to set the TPS etc... got bonnet up but soon realised didn't have a 7mm spanner to get the bolts of TPS and also the stop screw I think is seized up can't even see where small screwdriver slots in there don't think its gonna budge.

Ok I thought i got some better hose clips for the afm to filter pipe so took all this area of and fitted the better hose clip but back together, next I have abit of a tappy noise and read about possible manifold bolts being loose so checked them and some where quite loose so tightened these up and while round that back area cleaned abit of oil up on bottom end of engine with some paper. Now I was thinking about the iffy idle and thought I would advance the timing abit to see if it helps and adjust idle screw as neccesary so I moved the dizzy about 1mm clockwise marking original location tightended bolts back up.

Double checked everything, got in car turned ignition on and pushed the start button and it fired almost instantly and the tappy noise wasn't evidient was well pleased.

This morning gets in it turns ignition on pushs button and all I get is lots of cranking again and suddenly will fire very spluttery like its only firing on a couple of cylinders also the revs were rising very slowly and oil pressure needle was rising but jumpy couldn't believe it thought wtf has happened overnight!?!?

in end had to get in my little pug 106 for work right hassle moving cars about <_<

It was as if it had the ecu temp sensor issue again but that is brand new now and I checked the connections everything in fine??

Got home abit ago and thought about the spare ignition amp I have so I fitted this Bosch one the old one was a ducilier tried to fire it up and now there is nothing its not even firing ;) does it matter what ignition amp is fitted?

anyone any ideas what the hell has happened?!?! really need to get it figured out asap the little 106 pug is alittle worse for wear

think i know what you mean mate but as i said earlier after i had connected everything yesterday started it up and it was fine just this morning started back to square one... wish i never got an 8v now to be honest if i had known they were like this... only reason is I gather 8v are good sprinters.

how do you figure that? as standard 16v's make better power and more torque through out the rev range, as well as better MPG.

I'd check condition of the dizzy to amp cable - particularly where it enters the dizzy. More likely with clip on cap dizzy.

does sound ignition related to me - check the basics, are you sure you haven't got some damp in the distributor? Are all the leads on nice and tight?

well i'll be!!! got home earlier had another play i decided to clamp of the return pipe that goes to fpr and try to start it :P well i pushed the button but it still just cranking gave it abit of throttle and it started spluttering into life but still sounded like it was misfiring throughout rev range then just gave it a blip of throttle and it sounded better and started to idle ok?? wth

got out removed the spanner from pipe still running got in car giving abit of throttle it was smoking heavily out back though mix of blue smoke too (was told the blue smoke might clear as my fuel has been mixing with oil due to dodgy ecu temp sensor).

anyway decided to fit the bosch ign amp i bought put this on and it fired straight up and didn't seem as smokey as before just idling quite low though but will adjust the idle screw abit.

So what has happened is beyond me maybe like someone said abit of damp in ignition system somewhere thats dried up now??

got another problem now its pissing in water down sides of pillars in car!!! :) need to get it all removed sunroof and get a plate welded over it.
