Surge Tank And Fuel Pump On Battery Tray

Recommended Posts

Mad Scientist

Thinking of putting the surge tank and external fuel pump on the battery tray in my car. Obviously, the battery is no longer there but in the back.

What are peoples opinions on the safety of this location. My theory is, if a head on smash is bad enough to disrupt this location, given its location up the chassis rail, the leaking fuel will be the least of our worries. I will however have some jets from the extinguisher firing straight at it.

Don't want it in the car, even if its in a container.

Cheers fellas.

Pete

Not sure about that, the corners are designed to crumple quite a lot. This pic is my mates 205 after he hit the tyre wall at Brands at relatively low speed, the driver and passenger were fine, the passenger had a bit of harness bruising but that was all, however the battery was smashed up and leaking everywhere. I remember just how it looked as it was my battery that I had lent to my mate

Hmmmm. See your point. I didnt realise they would crumple up quite that well!

Maybe I should try and get it back towards the bulkhead a touch, perhaps in a box.

Any more thoughts??

Thanks.
