Top Mounts On Top Of (inner Wing)strut Top?

I've been looking at race cars alot recently and was thinking of mounting my adjustable top mounts on top of the strut top rather than underneath. My theory being I could run the car lower but still retain travel and good geometry. Was wondering why this doesnt seem to be popular, is it clearance issues with the bonnet?

Yes. Thats exactly how mine is . Didnt have a problem with the bonnet but now I have strengthened top mounts and as of yet I dont have a bonnet to go on...

I take it you pled it first to strengthen. How do you now bolt to the strut top? Did you use captive nuts and bolt down onto the strut top?
