Cone Filters

My GTi6 conversion is nearly ready for an engine start and I will be buying a filter for it soon.

I am looking for recommendations for a good quality filter.

I remember reading an artical somewere that they are not very good at filtering the air in comparision to the standard paper type filters?

Which make is the best for good filtration?

What is other peoples thoughts?

Either Green Cotton or K&N. You can't really go wrong tbh.

 

I wouldn't buy a generic universal jobby off eBay though.

The way they work is a cotton or foam gauze with oil suspended on it. The oil catches the dirt as the air passes. As the filter collects dirt and degrades in filter performance, the flow of air is relatively unaffected. For filtration performance paper has smaller holes, but is a restriction which gets worse as the dirt blocks flow.

K&N I'd say is the way forward, I've never had any problems with them in any of the cars I've owned, and as long as you don't mind oiling them occasionally they last for ages
