Cigaret Lighter Problem

I am having a problem with charging my ipod through the cigarret lighter. I want to have the charger tucked away behind the dash but am having the problem that there is no cut off for it, so when the car is off the little red light on the charger is still on. I am wondering weather this is going to be a big problem with draining the batterty?? Or if as its just a light led, i doesnt matter and wont drain the battery in 100 years?? Any help on this would be great thanks.

Take the power from ignition only source instead of the original fag lighter. That way you won't have to worry about using battery when you're not in the car.
