Changed The S.a.d Valve! Problem!

Recommended Posts

yorkey1989

hi all...

just wandering if any one could help me my 1.9 gti had tickover issues it ticked over at about 2000rpm then when revved it drops down and stutters then goes back to 2000rpm, after reading many threads on her i have checked the air flow meter which has been fiddled with previously as the cover has came off i have also tryd adjusting the air screw on the throttle bodie but nothing sorted it... i also read that the S.A.D valve could be the culprit so i checked this and one of the pipes going to it had split so i bought a new S.A.D valve and replaced it and put it back together and now it will not start!!!

so far my gti has gave me the worst possible welcome to owning my 1st 205 gti but sod it i dont regret buying it lol!!

can any one help me please as iam baffled!!!!

cheers... jack!

have you got a Haynes manual?

if you haven't I would try and obtain one from ebay, car boot sales etc, or M@tt has one as a pdf in his signature.

use the information shown to start from scratch with your injection system, IMO that's the best approach as it has been messed about with so much you haven't a clue where all the screws are set.

check the cable is still plugged in between your dizzy and your ignigtion amp. would be fairly easy to knock out when changing the s.a.d

i would try and cause a air leak in the system to see if it runs better, as it may be getting to much fuel now you fixed the damaged pipe,

hey thanks for the replys bin out there all day took the sad off agen and put it all back together cleaned all the terminals up on the plugs and it started up straight away as the plug above the sad valve for the temperature control unit was corroded abit but sorted it now its running better than before but still not 100% any other ideas why the idle speed is still not correct i can now lower it by adjusting the air screw on the throttle bodie but will this dramaticly alter the mixture??
