I've measured xu9 block height (224,5 mm)

according wossner forged pistons' catalogue, they supply pistons with compressione height= 38 mm

conrod is 143 mm so we have

(88/2)+143+38=225mm

so the pistons at tdc protrude 0,5mm above block?

quite common for high compression pistons to do so yes.

thank you :)

so protrude is common,

and if I have protusion of 1 mm or more can I "solve" using gasket with thickness>1,6 mm ?

Just wonder of how upgrade my engine :P

I don't see why you would need to "solve" anything.

there is nothing wrong with the piston's intruder coming over block height (as their name suggests, they intrude into the combustion chamber of the head)

its the only way to raise the compression ratio where you can't or don't want to carry out heavy skims to the cylinder head.

just use the standard gasket and enjoy the raised compression :)

You need around 1mm of squish clearance to be safe unless running a proven combination you've established to be safe with less.

I wonder if I use a crank with more stroke (90 mm or more) I have a protusion of 1-1,5mm at least

so to have at least 1 mm of squish I think I need to se a different gasket or machining the combustion chamber, (aniway I need to verify the head :P )

thank you for replies guys :)

if you use a longer stroke crank you'd have less squish clearance, going from your 90mm example you'd reduce it by 1mm, not that there are any 90mm Peugeot crankshafts :)

hiflow should have a 90 mm crank a catalogue, am I wrong?

otherwise the next step is the 92 mm crank from xu11d that with an another kind of piston (37 mm compression height) give

46+143+37=226 mm

that would give zero squish as far as I know, what with a gasket being 1.4mm odd and liners protruding 0.15mm.

hiflow's 90mm crank must be a custom billet/cast one, or an offset ground 88mm crank that requires custom conrods.

thanks

as I imagine, so or I choose the forged pistons, or (better way?) I choose xu11d crank with standard pistons/conrods

I think you should get it clarified. The correct compression height for zero deck height is 37.50mm. The comp. height doesn't include the protuder. I couldn't imagine all of the piston sticking above the deck.

Kaich.

Nothing to do with your topic. But I visted near Padua (Campodarsego) with work recently, it is a lovely place.

many thanks. Yesterday I wrote to Wossner, let's see. :)
