I am using the PH2, they seem like a good cam but you need to be carefull on the valve to piston clearance, if your head has had a skim in the past I wouldn't fit them, mine made just over 200bhp with these cams, carbs and maniflow exhaust

Ive since had a 2.1 bottom end built and am still using the cams.

I'm using PH2 on my XU9J4RS hybrid, they gave me an 11bhp increase but I have aftermarket management so could make the most of them. Low rpm running suffers quite badly on the standard inlet though, so I'd advise you go for PH1 or fit throttle bodies.

I'll also run a hybrid engine.

XU10J4R block/head, RS inlet + outlet, light skim and some headwork. together with a 200cpsi cat and a megasquirt.

i've heard that especially the 16v engines are a bit tricky to optimize by cams.

at least, a good performance up to 7500rpm and 180bhp would be the target i want to reach.

how did you fit the xu10j4rs-head to the xu9-block?

from what i've seen, the 86mm head diameter is a bit to much to pack on a xu9-block?!

what head gasket are you using?

and another thing i found out yesterday: the RS-gasket it reinforced by stock. the set from ajusa which i bought had a shiny metal compound gasket.

i this kind of gasket also found on the XU10J2TE ?

They are a bit tricky, but setting them to the manufacturer's spec will still yield decent results.

Mine is on the standard plenum with PH2 and is a pain to drive below 3k, but I have a feeling it's down to the mapping as I have managed to tweak a large amount of the jerkiness out. Mine made 183bhp so your target is pretty reasonable.

I haven't had any problems with the head, it more or less bolts straight on with a mixture of parts from both engines. The head gasket fits around the combustion chamber pretty nicely from what I remember, it's just a standard XU9 gasket.
